1935-1936

The all metal Orientale lamp family includes five styles: Green lacquer with silver plated trim, ivory lacquer with rose gold trim, rose gold plate, silver plate, and oxidized bronze plate.

The finish on these lamps was not designed to stand up to the test of time and very few of them are found with the original finish intact. Many collectors paint of re-plate these lamps since most of them are found badly corroded with very little evidence of the original finish left.

The lamps are made in two pieces. The foot was made to turn and lock onto the font. A glue, or Sauereisen cement, was used to secure the bond. It can be a real problem trying to get the foot and font level when trying to connect the two, so take care if you separate the two. If your lamp appears to be crooked, the problem is probably in the joint between the foot and font.
